Some weeks ago I had looked up UNC's spring break and put it on my calendar. Last Sunday we were having dinner with Graham and he informed us that spring break had just begun, whereby I learned that I had put it on my calendar wrong.
So of course we had nothing planned, but that is not something that would likely had differed had I known the dates correctly. We've never really been big spring break travellers.
In any case, to the naked eye Graham's spring break scarcely differed from his school year. He slept as late as he could after staying up late inhaling a broad variety of content from the internet on his iPad. In the day he went to the library and did some work and also read a book. The difference is that he did this at home rather than in his apartment, slept later, and went to the Chapel Hill public library rather than the UNC library. He also ate better by virtue of being at home and the fact that we kind of upped our meal game with him at home and in the evening we watched TV together, this week Slough Horses via our semi-accidental subscription the Apple TV.
Which is all good and the apple not falling all that far from the tree. My vacations also don't differ all that much from my work. The same basic mix of reading, talking to people and getting some exercise. I just try to keep finance out of the reading, tend to be someplace other than home and hike rather than playing tennis. And that's only because Mary doesn't play tennis.
*Nb. Not long after I hit publish on the blog Graham got a call from his high school robotics team wondering if might have time to drive to North Raleigh to help their scouting team with strategy. Turned out he could. He threw on some clothes and drove up there, then later went and hung out with some high school friends who go to State in the evening. All good.
