Mystery solved. For any of you who've wondered over the years whether or not you can take prescription drugs after the expiration date on them has come and gone, let it be known the that Department of Defense and the FDA have done research for a Shelf Life Extension Program (SLEP) which would seem to indicate (is that sufficiently hedged?) that it's usually fine. Assuming you stored the medicine at exactly 50 to 76 degrees Farenheit, protected from direct sunlight, and at relative humidity between 40 and 60%. Also assuming the pharmaceutical compound is stable and remains potent and bioavailable (and doesn't degrade into any toxic substances). Also assume the military cares about the health of its fighting men and women when they become too sick to fight.
